Courting Peacocks
Artist - Rachel Arbuckle
Courting Peacocks
In Ireland we are familiar with the Indian peacock which has iridescent blue and green plumage.
Their tail feathers are marked with eyespots, best seen when the peacock fans his tail, to attract the “ladies”.
Interestingly, mature peahens have been recorded as suddenly growing male plumage and making male calls possibly due to a lack of estrogen.
A visit to Johnstown Castle in Co. Wexford shows these beautiful birds at their finest in the perfect setting.
Rachel Arbuckle
Rachel graduated from Dublin’s National College of Art and Design in 1990. Her Celtic artwork since then has seen her work available worldwide in many forms.
Her colours, although modern, emulate the softness of the natural pigments used by the original Celts.
The beautiful peacocks in the jigsaw allow the artist to create a kaleidoscope of colour in Rachels unique style.
Nature’s Craft have been collaborating with Irish Artists and illustrators since the company was founded some 30 years ago. We value the work they produce and the endless and evolving creativity that continues to flow from within.
